2023 Reflections
The events of 2023 have shed a light on the importance of building community, seeking understanding, and striving for peace. Times like these call upon each of us to do our part -- no matter how seemingly small -- to work toward these critical aims with intentionality and diligence.
While the world often feels increasingly fractured, violent, and unpredictable, this year I have witnessed great acts of togetherness, compassion, and grace.
I thought I would share a few examples from my experience:
Early in 2023, we purchased a new property called Shore Hall to give us the opportunity to run retreats, masterclasses, and nature-based therapeutic sessions. For years I had searched for the perfect environment that would enable me to use nature-based therapies to coach individuals and to help teams to collaborate to advance their missions.
What we found at Shore Hall, however, became much more than that, as a strong community of supporters, partners, and friends came together to help us build toward our dream. Our local community, in particular, has been a tremendous example of the benefits of choosing collaboration over competition, and it has been truly inspiring to be a part of this journey. Tide Risers has been flourishing, with our members gathering online monthly for our Abundant Learning sessions. We start every year with an intention-setting session, and then follow up quarterly with accountability check-ins and an end-of-year review process.
Our members have reported this to be a meaningful way of creating more intentionality in their personal and professional lives, and it has been fulfilling for me to see so many of them pursue dreams and goals that would have otherwise seemed out of reach. The outpouring of support Tide Risers members give one another is a beautiful example of the benefits of choosing to invest in community.
The retreats we have run this year at Shore Hall and the Bellport Inn have given Tide Risers members unique, transformational experiences that have helped them to learn and grow. But perhaps more importantly, it has given our members the ability to build professional networks that just this year alone have created new products, partnerships, and job opportunities.

Meanwhile, my executive and life coaching practice has expanded, giving me the valuable gift of helping individuals design their futures, navigate transitions, manage challenging relationships, and pursue their careers with greater intentionality. It has been a real honor to work with such tremendously talented change-makers.
